E- Songs to reignite the patriotism on Republic Day
On 15th August 1947, India finally got freedom after 200 years of British rule. Hundreds and thousands of freedom fighters sacrificed their life for the purpose. Bollywood too has its own way of expressing love for the country. Some of the beautiful tracks are patriotic and no matter how old they are, they remain evergreen and soothing to the ears.
1. Yeh Desh Hai Veer Jawanon Ka – Naya Daur
The music of the song is given by OP Nayyar, lyrics by Sahir Ludhiyanvi and sung by Rafi and Balbeer. The highlight of the film is definitely the heart-stopping final race where the underdog wins.
2. Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon
The song, sung by Lata Mangeshkar, and written by Kavi Pradeep is a tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Sino-Indian war. When rendered at the National Stadium in the presence of Jawaharlal Nehru, it is said to have moved the Prime Minister to tears.
3 Kar Chale Hum Fida – Haqeeqat
Sung by Mohammad Rafi, the music is by Madan Mohan and the lyrics by Kaifi Azmi. The movie was based on the 1962 Sino-Indian war. It won the National Film Award for Second Best Feature Film in 1965.
4. Mera Rang De Basanti Chola – Shaheed
The soulful track is composed by AR Rahman and is a must on every Independence Day playlist. The soundtrack is listed in among the ‘10 Best Soundtracks’ of all time in TIME Magazine in 2005.
7. Maa Tujhe Salaam
This is a very well sung song by Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Vijay Prakash, Kunal Ganjawala and Roop Kumar Rathod . According to the Indian trade website Box Office India, with around 11,00,000 units sold, this film’s soundtrack album was the year’s 13th highest-selling.
